HARRIS COUNTY MUD 500 HORSEPEN CREEK REGIONAL LIFT STATION
EHRA designed an expansion that implemented the installation of a new triplex lift station operating in conjunction with the existing duplex lift station.
EHRA design accommodates an a firm capacity of 4.32 MGD.
The Horsepen Creek Regional Lift Station is the influent station of the Horsepen Creek Wastewater Treatment Plant. The plant serves the Towne Lake Development, which consists of Harris County MUD Numbers 500, 501, 502, 503. EHRA designed an expansion that implemented the installation of a new triplex lift station operating in conjunction with the existing duplex lift station. The combined stations can accommodate anticipated flows from 3,600 equivalent single-family connections (ESFC) or a firm capacity of 4.32 MGD.
EHRA designed components intended to generate optimum use of the existing lift station while also best matching station flow patterns. The PLC prioritizes the small duplex station to lead during typical low flow periods of the day and alternates the triplex station in to lead during diurnal peaks. Additional design highlights were the upsizing of the 6-inch force main to 16 inches, a new control panel, a level transducer with float back-up, an automatic transfer switch for use with a permanent generator, a main switch with fusing, and a 125-kW diesel generator equipped with a day fuel tank for use in the event of an extended power outage.
