EHRA worked with the District to create a comprehensive Parks Master Plan, which included recommendations for the development of over two miles of hike/bike trails adjacent to local streets, and within flood control and utility pipeline easements. The District began implementation of the Plan by prioritizing the beautification of West Road, a major arterial street that runs through the District.
Facilities requiring expansion were also common wall construction, and the EHRA team converted the facilities into aerobic digesters and sludge thickeners.
On-going surveying for property acquisition and engineering design surveys of re-routing of Buffalo Bayou north of downtown Houston between North Main Street and McKee Street. Services to be provided include “soundings” for Buffalo and White Oak Bayous.
Engineering design and construction phase services of water, sewer, drainage and paving for four subdivision sections and off-site channel (123 acres out of a 400 acre subdivision). There was 60-feet of elevation difference on this site and wooded lots were left in their natural state which required the installation of retaining walls.
EHRA completed a site-specific planning and visioning study for the proposed 470-acre San Jacinto Boulevard District (SJBD) in Baytown, Texas.
EHRA Engineering is proud to collaborate with Pearl River Companies on the development of Sendero, a 50-acre mixed-use commercial project in the City of Bastrop, Texas. This exciting development encompasses a diverse range of uses, including multi-family units, restaurants, wellness center, retail shops and a conference center. EHRA began work on Phase 1 in July 2024, focusing on creating roadway access, two retail strip buildings and essential infrastructure to support future phases.
EHRA has provided several services based on the needs of the project and the permit requirements of the City of Bastrop. EHRA’s Surveying and Mapping team provided the Boundary and Topographic survey for the project while the Planning and Visioning team has been instrumental in managing the replatting process for the development. EHRA’s Traffic and Transportation team provided a thorough traffic impact analysis and is handling the TxDOT permit process.
EHRA’s Site Development team led both the private site and public infrastructure packages for Sendero. Led by Joshua M. Campbell, PE, the public infrastructure plan included the construction of Mote Way, public water and sanitary infrastructure and the overarching drainage plan. Under the leadership of Matthew Gutzwiller, PE, the private site package focused on private roadways, drainage, grading, storm sewer systems and water and sanitary utilities to service the retail buildings.
Sendero Bastrop has provided unique opportunities and challenges in site development, allowing EHRA the opportunity to be on the front end of design for the master commercial development. Collaborating closely with the developer and design team, we established guidelines for developing within Sendero, including defining boundaries and preparing pad-ready tracts. Aesthetic enhancements, such as colored concrete, varied concrete finishes and innovative grading around landscape features, have added visual appeal to the development.
This project also marked EHRA’s first endeavor in the City of Bastrop. Navigating the City’s distinct design manuals and permitting processes required diligent study and coordination. Unlike the processes in Houston and surrounding areas, Bastrop’s requirements demanded integrated private and public drainage plans and additional interdisciplinary components within the site development and public packages. It took high effort to coordinate internally and with the design team to ensure all necessary elements were included for successful permitting.
Currently, the project is in the latter stages of permitting with the City of Bastrop and TxDOT, with construction anticipated to begin in early 2025. Sendero represents a significant opportunity for EHRA to continue its partnership with Pearl River Companies in future phases and to attract new clients interested in developing within the master-planned development. Phase 1 has been invaluable, enhancing EHRA’s expertise in jurisdictional requirements and positioning the site for streamlined future development.
EHRA Engineering is honored to be part of Sendero’s journey, contributing to a development that will bring vibrant commercial attractions to the City of Bastrop.
