The Future City Competition is a perfect opportunity for students in the 6th, 7th and 8th grades to get a taste of what the engineering world has to offer and harness that in a creative and imaginative way to research, design and build cities of the future. The winners of the 2017 competition hail from Texas. The team from West Ridge Middle School in Austin took top prize for the most innovative, creative, well-planned and executed city.
The Future City Competition engages more than 40,000 middle school students each year throughout the United States and abroad. Students repeatedly report that the program increases their motivation and excitement about STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math). In addition, students and teachers report a marked improvement in students’ 21st Century skills. Photo Credit: Future City Competition
